The Complete Guide to Habit Trackers (with free printables)

Yop & Tom

Creating and keeping a habit is hard. We all have goals like to be healthier, exercise more, read more, and finally, learn that new language.

The problem is it can take a long time of hard work before we see the fruits of our labor. After a month of yoga, you may not feel any different so to keep motivated a Habit Tracker can be a really useful tool.

What is a Habit Tracker?

Simply put, a Habit Tracker is a visual way of keeping track of when we completed a certain habit. This could be as simple as keeping track in a calendar, but in journaling, we use a simple spread to monitor habits. To download our beautiful free monthly habit trackers, just fill in the form below.

 Why use a Habit Tracker?

There are 3 main reasons for using a Habit Tracker:

1) It motivates you to keep performing the habit. Nobody wants to look back at an empty week with nothing tracked.

2) It gives you a small win every time!

3) It acts as a reminder. Every time you open your journal you get that little reminder that you need.

What should I track?

Habit Trackers give you the freedom to track anything that is important to you. That could be something related one of the categories below:

Health & fitness:

  • Exercise
  • Meditation
  • Healthy eating
  • Water intake
  • No smoking

Work or your Business:

  • Blogging
  • Social Media posts
  • Send newsletter

Hobby:

  • Fill in journal
  • Practice instrument

See our blog post for over 60 ideas on what you can put in your habit tracker.

How long do you need to use your Habit Tracker for?

This is a common question. It can take at least 66 days to form a habit (but it can be much longer). The honest answer to this question is, for as long you want to continue to do the habit. Marking off when you have done the habit will continue to reinforce the habit and provide motivation. It's much harder to stop the habit if you don't want to see that gap in your Habit Tracker.

So why not download our free printables and get started, just fill in your details below and we will email them to you.
